On 27 October 2020, the President of KIVI, Joanne Meyboom installed the CE department at her first members’ meeting. Because of Corona, it was per zoom. Despite this, there were 36 people present.
After the handling of the usual domestic matters, the board asked for the opinion of the members in 5 breakout sessions.
1. What is the future of Chartered Engineering and which role should the section and the sections board play in that.
- How do we ensure good PR for Chartered Engineering and recruit enough new candidate Incorporated and Chartered Engineers for a healthy department.
- What activities should we organise over the next two years? We are thinking of courses to become mentor and assessor, coaching and networking evenings for candidate Incorporated and Chartered Engineers, and a number of evenings to discuss our strategy for the future with the members of the department.
- How can we improve the chartered engineering process?
- What should the mentor and assessor training for Incorporated and Chartered Engineers look like? A few years ago, a course was provided. This course was discussed in the breakout after which ideas will be exchanged about a new course.
After the breakout sessions, all groups gave a summary. In this way, every department member was contributing to the direction of our new Chartered Engineering section!
The meeting was much appreciated and gave new input and new volunteers.
