The Royal Netherlands Society of Engineers (KIVI) installed Edward Heerema, CEO of Allseas, as a Fellow Chartered Engineer. Awarding of the Fellowship status is an acknowledgment of the leadership and professional performance of ir. Edward Heerema, including his significant pioneering and innovative contributions to the offshore and marine industry worldwide. In the Netherlands, this title was awarded for the first time.
“It’s a great reward for my work” says Edward Heerema. Fellow Chartered Engineer status is the highest level of Chartership. It is a prestigious honour awarded to Senior Engineers who are known and respected for their expertise.
Edward Heerema has not only proven his extensive experience and strong entrepreneurship, he has also made important contributions to engineering as a whole and in educating new generations of engineers. He constantly raises the standard of Engineering by taking leadership in his field and sharing his knowledge and experience in mentor roles to younger Engineers.
Chartership Status
The underlying purpose of the Chartership is constantly forcing the professional development of engineers, stimulating innovation, securing of knowledge in the discipline, and ensuring social dialogue and responsible actions of the engineer. The Chartership contributes to the development of engineering science and distinguishes engineers who contribute. The titles are Chartered Engineer (MSc level) and Incorporated Engineer (BSc level). These titles are internationally recognized qualifications for engineers with appropriate professional experience.
It offers a structure for knowledge exchange and continual professional development across multiple engineering workfields and disciplines. Key elements are reflective learning, peer review and a strong focus on the continuous professional development of the engineers knowledge, experience and commitment. Chartership is an internationally recognised qualification for Engineers as a Chartered Engineer (MSc level) or an Incorporated Engineer (BSc level).
